The family-PC classic — now it sings
DHALAAN
ढलान · the slopeThe old downhill ski game — trees, moguls, ramps, the slalom and the yeti after the finish. In the musical runs every slalom gate is a note: the higher the note, the further right the flag. Ski the tune's shape and you sail through.

How to play
- The classic. Point the mouse (or hold a finger on the snow) where you want to go, or use the arrow keys: straight down is fastest, across the hill is slow, sideways you stop. F skis fast. Trees, stumps and rocks knock you over; moguls bounce you; a ramp throws you in the air — press ↑ or Trick for a stunt, but finish it before you land.
- The runs. Slalom: pass each flag on the side its pennant points to — a missed flag adds 5 seconds. Tree slalom: the same through a forest. Freestyle: style points for jumps and tricks. After the finish the hill goes on… and the yeti comes out. Ski fast and he can't catch you.
- The music. In the musical runs every gate is a note and the snow carries you along in time. The higher the note, the further right its gate — one lane for every step of the scale, like the keys of a harmonium. A step is the next lane, a leap is a jump of two or more, the same note keeps you where you are. Wherever you cross a gate's line, that lane's note sounds — so the right lane plays the right tune.
- Ears, in four levels. Up, down or same; Step or leap; Famous tunes (Twinkle, Ode to Joy, Frère Jacques and more); Raga phrases in Bhupali, Durga, Yaman and Bilawal on Sa = G. You hear the phrase, then ski it back.
- Who. Just me, for your best run. Same device: each of you skis the same hill in turn. Online room: everyone skis the same hill at once.
